Canada General
Service Medal (1866-1870)
Awarded to members of the Imperial and Canadian Forces who had
taken part in the suppression of the Fenian raids and Riels' First
Rebellion.
Egypt Medal
(1882-1889)
Awarded to members of the army and navy who took part in the Egyptian campaigns between 1882 and 1889.
North West Canada(1885)
Awarded to soldiers taking part in the suppression of the Riel Rebellion of 1885, but only those who served west of Port Arthur.
Queen's South Africa Medal (1899-1902)
Awarded to all those who served in South Africa between 11 October 1889 and 31 May 1902 (during the Boer War).
King's South Africa Medal (1901-1902)
Awarded to all troops who served in South Africa on or after 01 January 1902 and completed 18 months service before 01 June 1902. Always issued with the Queen's Medal.
1914 Star
Awarded to members of the British and Indian Expeditionary Forces,
serving in France or Belgium on the establishment of the British
Expeditionary Forces between 05 August 1914 and midnight of 22/23
November 1914.
1914-1915 Star
Awarded to all who saw service in any theatre of war against the central
powers between 05 August 1914 and 31 December 1915 except those eligible for the 1914 Star. *
British War Medal
Awarded to all ranks of Canadian overseas military forces who came from Canada between 05 August 1914 and 11 November 1918, or who had served in a theatre of war. *
Mercantile Marine War Medal
Awarded to those who received the British War Medal and also served at sea on at least one voyage through a danger zone.
Victory Medal (1914-1918)
Awarded for those who actually served on the establishment of a unit in a theatre of war between 05 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. *
