90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge and
Dedication of the newly restored Canadian National Vimy Memorial

On April 9, 2007, tens of thousands of people gathered in France and in Canada to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Canadians captured Vimy Ridge 90 years ago in a fight for peace, freedom and hope. The Canadian victory at Vimy Ridge is thought to have been a key turning point in shaping Canada as a nation.

As part of the events, the newly restored Canadian National Vimy Memorial was dedicated in France. This memorial stands as a reminder of the sacrifices and achievements made during the Battle of Vimy Ridge. It had been under major restoration since December 2004.
