Students Honour Veterans with Meaningful Artwork

Students from Newfoundland and Labrador School for the Deaf were delighted to see their artwork, saluting Veterans Week, displayed in the foyer of the John Cabot Building in St. John's, Newfoundland during a field trip on November 10, 2006.

Thirty-nine students participated in the first annual poster contest which encourages students to express their gratitude to Veterans as well as those currently serving, through art. The contest was a joint effort between the school and the St. John's District Office Veterans Affairs. First and second place were awarded in four categories, ages 5 to 17 and older.

More than 50 people, including staff of Newfoundland and Labrador School for the Deaf, students and some parents were on hand for the unveiling of the artwork, the judging of the posters and the awarding of the prizes.
