
Mr. Harvey Brush was born on April 14, 1924, in Milton, Ontario. After one year with the reserves, Mr. Brush "adjusted" his age to enlist on July 1, 1940, with an Irish regiment. He served in Italy with the Lorne Scots, in a defence platoon for the 1st Divisional Headquarters.
Mr. Brush joined the reserves as a piper in 1949, and until retiring in 1986, he served as a pipe sergeant for the Lorne Scots Regiment. He is now a member of the Owen Sound District Pipe Band and the Ontario Royal Canadian Legion Pipes, Drums and Colours Band. Mr. Brush's piping experience earned him the honour of playing the lament on Vimy Ridge in 2003.
Mr. Brush's current interests include square dancing, walking and other forms of exercise. He and his wife, Helen, have a son in British Columbia and six grandchildren.
